American teenager Chris Clark made an incredible step forward in the latest round of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at his Smrz Racing Team’s home round – Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.

Having stayed with the team after the last round in Italy, Chris was focused, determined and confident ahead of the weekend.

Fast in Free Practice, the #27 Kawasaki rider produced his best qualifying performance, out qualifying his team mate for the first time this season and setting himself up for two competitive races.

Saturday saw Chris involved in a multi-rider fight with many much more experienced riders. He crossed the line twenty-third after hard fought fight throughout.

Sunday saw temperatures soaring and Chris in fighting mood. Another solid opening lap soon saw him making places and after another twelve-lap scrap he took the chequered flag P18, finishing ahead of former race winners and riders with many more laps under their belt in the category.

Delighted with the weekend, Chris now heads home to the USA before heading back to Europe in a couple of weeks for the next round of WorldSSP300 at the ‘rollercoaster’ – the Portimao circuit in Portugal.

Chris Clark:

“I had a lot of confidence going into race one. I made a few positions but there was quite a big fight as soon as the lights went out. I finished P23 and crossed the line in a photo finish which was a cool experience. The start of race two was really chaotic. I had a bad start and then there was a big mess in turn one, but I was able to stay calm and work my way up to the next group. I had a good battle and finished eighteenth. I learned so much and was much more aggressive but at the same time I rode relaxed. I cannot wait to take what I have learned to Portugal. I want to thank Joe and all my team for their belief and help and support and I want to say a special thank you to Kuba for letting me stay with him and his family this past month and allowing me to stay with them. I had so much fun, and they have helped me so much. See you all in Portimao.”
