Cathedral Of Speed Top Twenty For Chris Clark
Chris Clark’s first visit to the TT Circuit Assen, affectionately known as the Cathedral of Speed, saw the young American race to his first top twenty finish in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship after mixed conditions throughout the weekend limited his dry track time.
Improving each time, he took to the track the steps forward by the seventeen-year-old are clear to see and had it not been for a race one crash he could well have finished in the points in Saturday’s opening race. Clark had been running inside the top eighteen and was lapping faster than those ahead of him prior to the spill.
Sunday brought a new opportunity for further advancement and Chris was able to record his personal best lap in race two on his way to P20 at the flag.
Round three of the series takes place in Misano, Italy, over the first weekend of June.

“It was a tough weekend that started wet. I had to learn the track and I didn’t do as well as I wanted to. I did a lot better than I expected in qualifying and I ended up P27. I was hoping for a dry warm up, but it was raining which meant little time to make any major changes because of the weather. I had a small crash, but the team did a great job to fix everything for the race which went really well. I was inside the top twenty but unfortunately there was a red flag which meant a restart. Sadly, in the restart I crashed after losing touch with the leading group. Sunday was really cold but at least it was dry. I had a race long battle and crossed the line P20, my best result of the season. I am looking forward to Misano in June.”
