Chris Clark Continues To Impress On Second WorldSSP300 Appearance
Chris Clark’s impressive start to his FIM Supersport Championship career continued in the latest round of the series at Portimão in Portugal this past weekend.
The ‘rollercoaster’ as it’s often referred to, because of its undulating nature, is not for the faint hearted yet despite him having never ridden the circuit before the weekend the talented American teen showed a natural
speed and ability to learn a new circuit far beyond his years.
Improving throughout the #PRTWorldSSP weekend, Chris, who was once again competing for the Accolade Smrz squad qualified well before racing to twenty-second and twenty-seventh place finishes in the two thirteen lap encounters.
Chris’s pace caught the attention of several team managers – and with the #27 keen to race full time in the series in 2024 – the question now is will it happen?
Chris Clark:
“I have learned so much about how things are done here in Europe these past few weeks, especially in Portimão. I dropped my times by over 1.5s in qualifying just by being in the group and qualified P26. I made my way up to twenty-second before the red flag in race one which I was happy with. The race was amazing. I’ve never been in such an intense battle. It was so much fun. I was hoping for more in race two, but I am still happy. I was running with the group, but I lost touch with them before the end. I feel positive overall about the weekend, and I am so thankful to Jakub (Smrz) and the whole Accolade Smrz team. I really hope that I can be here full time in 2024! Thank you also to everyone who made these last two weeks possible.”
